Fixing of Can't Use the Volume Key to Zoom In and Out in the Camera App in Samsung Galaxy S3

It seems that Samsung Galaxy S3 has been bringing some problems to the users since it launched at the first time. 

After some further investigations, I've found that there were two things that can caused the zoom function of the Volume key didn't work, the camera mode and the Home screen mode.

Solving of  can't zoom in or out using the Volume key in the Camera application If you're also experiencing this problem, you can check the following steps to make the zoom function of the Volume key works again:

1. Check the camera mode 
   Some camera modes (e.g: panorama mode) will automatically disable the zoom function. So, to make the zoom function works, you need to change the camera mode to another mode. You'll be informed with the error message "cannot zoom in or out in this mode" if you're using a camera mode where the zoom function is not allowed to use.
2. Check the home screen mode 
   If your phone is using the easy mode as its home screen mode then it will automatically disable the zoom function. So, to make the zoom function works, you need to set the home screen mode to the standard mode. You can do so by using the following steps:
• Go to Settings.
• Tap My device tab.
• Tap Home screen mode and then select Standard.
3. Use the pinch to zoom feature 
   If the step #1 and #2 didn't work, you still be able to zoom in or out by pinching the screen with two fingers.

For the record, I've tested these steps in the Samsung Galaxy SIV with Android 4.4 Kitkat and it worked. So, I can conclude that these steps should be worked in another Samsung Galaxy phones with Android 4.3 

  Solution of  Can't Find the Wi-Fi Direct Option on Android 4.3

In Android 4.3, there are some options that changed its location in the Settings menu causing some users are having trouble to find them when they want to use them.  She said that she couldn't find the rename option in the Bluetooth menu, where the option is usually located. Apparently, in the recent update you have to change the device name to change the Bluetooth name.

Discovering of Wi-Fi Direct option in Android 4.3

FYI, in Android Jelly Bean 4.2 and above, the Wi-Fi Direct has been moved to the Wi-Fi menu. Well, here are the steps to locate the Wi-Fi Direct option:

1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap My Connections tab.
3. If necessary, slide the switch next to Wi-Fi option to the right to enable this option and allows you accessing the menu.
4. Tap Wi-Fi Direct button.
5. Tap Scan button to search another Wi-Fi Direct enabled device within range.
6. Now, you're ready to use Wi-Fi Direct to transfer files with another Wi-Fi direct enabled devices.

Indeed, the appearance of the Settings menu in the Android ICS and the Android Jelly Bean(especially the Android 4.3) has some differences. So, digging the Settings menu to explore each  option available is one things that you might consider to do to know the Settings menu more better. 

Enabling of  Lock Screen Light Effect on Android 4.3

Seems I've been missing some features in the previous Android version, Android 4.2 and just discovered them in the Android 4.3. Well, though some of them may be have no real function, but they do the thing that will beautify your precious Samsung Galaxy SIII and makes this device a little bit more fun to play with from time to time. I've already mentioned one of them in the previous post, the hidden BeanFlinger daydream which will act like the PC-screensaver on your phone. You're free to display it right now or while the phone is docked or charging.

Another similar feature that was overlooked by me is an alternative swipe effect, the light effect in the lock screen which already there since the Android 4.2. This feature of course will give you one more option if you have bored with no-effect or even with the standard ripple effect available in the previous version. But, you should note that this only works if you use the swipe methods for your lock screen.

How to turn on lock screen light effect on Android 4.3?

Here the steps you need to do:

1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap My Device tab.
3. Tap Lock screen.
4. Tap Unlock effect.
5. Select Light effect. When the radio button next the option shows green means the option is selected.

Once you've done the steps above, tap the Power key twice to go to your lock screen. Now, try to unlock the screen by swiping your finger, then you'll notice that the movement of your finger will be followed by the light effect in your lock screen. So, which the lockscreen effect you like best? 

Disclosing  and Use the Hidden BeanFlinger Daydream in Android 4.3

As with all the previous Android version, the Android 4.3 also has the Easter egg animation which will display the Big Bean and bean flinger in the screen. For me, this is an extra feature that is so fun to play with. Once you flicked your Bean, then this will also unlock the hidden BeanFlinger option under the daydream menu.

How to unlock and use the hidden BeanFlinger daydream in Android 4.3?

Below are the steps to do so:

1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap More tab.
3. Tap About device.
4. Find Android version, and then tap it rapidly until you see the picture of the Android 4.3 Jelly bean and the big bean on the screen.
5. Now, go back to Settings.
6. Tap My device tab.
7. Tap Display.
8. Scroll down to find Daydream, and then slide the switch next to the Daydream option to the right to enable this option.
9. Here you should see the BeanFlinger daydream as one of the option available.
10. Tap Start now button to display the BeanFlinger daydream right now. You can see this daydream for about 15 seconds.
11. Or you can also tap Select dream time to decide when the daydream occurs. There are three option available which you can choose: While docked, While charging and All.

Moving of  Apps to SD Card on Android 4.3 in the Samsung Galaxy S3

 

In the recent update Android 4.3, the Samsung Galaxy S3 gets some new features to improve the user experience of using this phone. One of the new feature brought by this new operating system is the ability to change the Volume key function in the Camera app. Now, the user will be able to assign this key as the camera key or the record key which will allow the user to take the picture or record the video using the physical button, the Volume up key or the Volume down key.

Another long-awaited new feature that now available in Android 4.3 is the ability to move apps to the SD card. This feature of course will help the user to keep the internal storage not quickly run out, especially for those of you who have lot of installed apps and only have low internal storage. As we all know that low internal storage will make the device not works properly and encountering some problems.

Moving of  apps to SD card on Android 4.3

You can do so through the Settings menu or through the App Drawer.

Step 1: Through the Settings menu

• Go to Settings.
• Tap More tab.
• Tap Application manager.
• Swipe to the All screen.
• Tap the desired app you wish to move to the SD card.
• Tap Move to SD card button.

Step2: Through the App Drawer

• Go to Apps through Home screen.
• Long tap the desired app you wish to move to the SD card, and then drag the app to the App info icon at the top of the screen.
• Tap Move to SD card button.

Indeed, there are some apps that can't be moved to the SD card. But, by knowing this step, at least now you have one more option to free up your internal storage by moving the apps that are supported by this feature to the SD card. 

  Changing the Volume Key Function in Camera App in Android 4.3

In Android 4.3, Camera app is one of the app that has new features. One of which is the new camera mode called Sound and Shot which will allow you record the background sound up to 5 or 9 seconds before capturing the picture.

In this recent update, the users also has the ability to set the Volume key function in the Camera app. As we all know that the Volume key used to control zoom in the Camera app. Now, in the Android 4.3, you're not only be able to set the Volume key as the zoom key but also as the camera key or the record key.

How to change the Volume key function?

Below are the steps to do so:

1. Open Camera app.
2. Tap the Cogwheel icon to enter the settings menu.
3. Tap Volume key option, then tap it.
4. Here you'll see three options available, they are:
• The zoom key: choose this option to set the Volume key to control zoom.
• The camera key: choose this option to allow you use the Volume up key or Volume down key to take the picture.
• The record key: choose this option to allow you use the Volume up key or Volume down key to record the video.
5. Tap the desired function you want. When the radio button next the option shows green means the option is selected.
6. The Volume key function has been changed.

The ability to change the Volume key function in Camera app of course will helpfull for those of you who wants to use the physical button to take picture or to record the video.

Making a Music File Can't be Played by the Music Player App

 

 Fortunately, in Android-based smartphone including with the Samsung Galaxy SIII, the user can be easily to do so by adding certain extension in the end of the music file name in order to disable media scanning so the Music Player app can't read it.

How to Mark Music Player app doesn't read certain music file?

Generally, you can do so by using another third-party File Manager apps. But, we'll use the ES File Explorer app in this step. Well, here are the steps:

• Open ES File Explorer app.
• Navigate to the folder where the music file you wants to rename is saved.
• Long tap the required music file to select it.
• Tap Rename button.
• Add .nomedia behind the music file name. For example: rename your_song_title.mp3 became your_song_title.mp3.nomedia
  This extension will prevent this music file from being scanned and loaded by the Music Player app.
• Tap OK button to save the change
• Done. Now, the music file you've just renamed should not be listed in the Music Player app.

For the record, this steps is only renaming the music files, so next time whenever you want this music file be played back again in the Music Player app, you just need to remove .nomedia from the music file name using the same steps. Once done, in a few seconds, the Music Player will be able to read and plays it back.

 For those of you who didn't already know, aside for transfer files you can also use this to share the internet connection with another Bluetooth-enabled devices.     I can't guarantee that this steps will work on Android 4.3 because some carriers has been decided to remove this option. And also, generally you can use this steps with another Bluetooth-capable devices, but as the example we'll use the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.7.0. Well, here are the steps:

• In Samsung Galaxy SIII, go to Settings.
• If necessary, slide the switch next to Bluetooth to the right to enable this option.
• Tap Bluetooth.
• Check the box next to your Samsung Galaxy SIII Bluetooth name to make your device visible to all nearby Bluetooth devices.
• Go back to Settings.
• Tap More settings
• Check the box next to Bluetooth tethering to enable this option.
• In Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.7.0, go to Settings then slide the switch next to Bluetooth to the right to enable it.
• Tap Bluetooth and then followed by tapping the Scan for devices button to scan for another Bluetooth-enabled device within range.
• The Samsung Galaxy SIII Bluetooth name should be appear under Available devices section.
• Tap the Samsung Galaxy SIII Bluetooth name to request pairing.
• Now, the Bluetooth pairing request notification should be appear in your Samsung Galaxy SIII screen, and then tap OK button.
• Back to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.7.0, tap Pair button in the request pairing notification.
• Now, you should see the cogwheel icon next to Samsung Galaxy S3 Bluetooth name under Available devices section, tap the cogwheel icon to enter the settings menu.
• Check the box next to Internet access.
• Done. Now the internet connection is ready to use in the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.7.0

Indeed using Wi-Fi tethering will be able to allow you get more faster internet connection and more wider range. But, by knowing this steps, now at least you have one more option to share internet connection to another Bluetooth-capable devices.

  Using of  Sound and Shot Mode on Samsung Galaxy S3

   

In the recent update Android 4.3, the camera app gets a new feature which will allow the user to take picture with the Volume up key or the Volume down key. Previously. But in the Android 4.3, the users will be able to take picture using the Volume key which will help them to take picture in certain condition when using the on-screen camera button is little difficult to do, such as when they're diving.

Aside the ability to assign the Volume key as the camera key, in this update the camera app also gets a new camera mode named sound and shot mode. This mode will allow the user to record the background sound up to 5 or 9 seconds before capturing which will make the picture more alive.

As a note, this mode will give you a better result when used in the situation with the noises in the background, such as in the concerts or in the birthday party or else.

Taking a Picture Using Volume Key on Android 4.3

 

The recent update Android 4.3 brings some new options to improve the user experience of using this phone. Though, in some cases, the new option brought by this operating system alleged by some user as the "problem" due to the user yet not familiar with it, such as the flash notification option which will make the camera flashes when receiving new email or calls or when the alarm goes off.  Unfortunately, lot of users didn't like with this option. They said that the flash light is too bright and really bothered them.

• Open Camera app.
• Tap the Cogwheel icon to enter the settings menu.
• Scroll down to find Volume key option, then tap it.
• Select The camera key option.
• Go back to the camera screen.
• Now you're ready to take picture using the Volume up key or the Volume down key.

For the record, indeed in certain case taking a picture using the physical button is helpful but it will also increase the shake that will produce not focused image. So, when you decide to take a picture using the Volume key, make sure to hold the phone as smooth as possible to get the best result. 

Clearing of  Caches of All Applications on Android 4.3 

 

Clear cache is one of the most common solution done by the users when they're experiencing some problems with certain app. For instance, when you feels the Browser app on your phone become more slower and heavier than before, then clearing its cache might will be one of the solution you have to try to fix this problem.

In the latest update Android 4.3, you can perform clear cache in two different methods through the Settings menu. The one is clear cache through the application manager menu which is the common methods done in the previous Android version. The second is clear cache through the storage menu. What's makes the different between both of the methods is the second method will allow you to clear cache for all apps in a single time.

How to clear all apps cache on Android 4.3?

For any reason, if you decide to clear all apps cache on the phone, then below are the steps to do so:

• Go to Settings.
• Tap More.
• Tap Storage.
• Find Cached data, then tap the row.
• Now, you'll be prompted to choose either to clear cached data or not.
• Tap OK button to clear all apps cache.
• Caches in all apps will be cleared.

One of the possible reason why clear all apps cache option is now reside in the storage menu is may be it's designed to make the user more easier to clear all apps cache when they're checking the available storage and wants to free up some space as well as fixed some problems experienced by the app due to lot of cache stored.

Stopping of the Phone Keeps Scanning Wi-Fi on Android 4.3 

 

Though lot of users alleges that turned on Wi-Fi all the times will poor the battery life, in certain case a user might be want to keep this option always on.

While in Android 4.3, there's a Wi-Fi related option named Always allow scanning which will allow your phone to constantly scanning for Wi-Fi networks even when the Wi-Fi is turned off. This option is claimed will be able to save more power due to the phone doesn't need to use some powers taking by the GPS to get your location information. In another side, this option also reported by some users as the culprit of some problems occurs on their phones, such as boot loop issue after restart and else. If that happen, you can easily turning off this option.

How to disable Always allow scanning option?

For any reason, if you wants to turn this option off then kindly do as follows:

• Go to Settings.
• Tap My connections tab.
• If necessary slide the switch next to Wi-Fi option to the right to enable this option which will let you accessing the menu inside this option.
• Tap Wi-Fi.
• Tap the Menu key then select Advanced.
• Uncheck the box next to Always allow scanning option.

Once you've done the steps, now the phone should be stopped constantly scanning Wi-Fi, though by disabling this option would reduce a quality of the information location provided. But, if you really bothered with the problem caused by this option, then it might be the right time for you to turn off this option
