Video player app is a media-related app that is available in the Samsung Galaxy SIV. You can use this app for watching all saved videos in your phone, either those you took with the phone camera or those you got/downloaded from other sources.


While you're watching a video in the video player app, you'll be given with some useful options, one of which is the picture in picture (pip) view icon that you can use to reduce the screen size and display the player in the small window so that you can use your phone for other purposes without closing the video.

How to use pop-up play?
Below are the steps to do so:

1. Open the Video Player app.
2. Tap the required video to play it.
3. Tap the PIP (Picture in picture) view icon to view the video in a small window. If you can't see this icon, tap the screen to view the playback controls. The player will remain on top while you're using the phone for other purposes.
4. While the video player is displayed in the small window, you can do the following actions:
• Move: you can move the video window to any part of the screen by dragging it to another location.
• Zoom in or zoom out: spread two fingers apart on the video window to enlarge it or pinch the video window to reduce it.
• Pause and resume: single tap the video window to pause or resume the playback.
• Multitask: you can watch the video while using your phone for other purposes(e.g: browsing the webpages, sending text messages, etc). You can use and navigate your phone normally and the player will remain on top.
• Exit from PIP view: double tap the video window to return to the video player app.
• Close: when the playback is paused, you can close the player by tapping the close button
  at the top right corner of the video window. If you didn't activate the auto next video option, the video window will be closed automatically once the playback is over.

By default, if you play a video in the normal view, the video will be stopped if you use your phone for other activities. But, by using the popup video player or the pip view now you can do other activities(multitask) while you're watching the video.

Fixing of  Can't Find Capture Icon in the Video Player App in Galaxy S4

 

While you're playing a video in the video player app, you'll be presented with some options that you can use to control the playback, such as rewind or forward the playback, adjust the volume, etc. Even you'll be given with a take-a-screenshot button or capture icon to make you easier to take a screenshot while playing a video.

A few days ago, an insider told me that she can't find the capture icon while she was playing a video in the video player app. As a note, the option to display the capture icon is enabled by default therefore if you can't find the capture icon make sure that the capture option in the settings menu while playing a video is not disabled.

1. Open the Video Player app.
2. Tap the required video to play it.
3. Tap the Menu key and then select Settings.

5. Tap Close button.
6. Now you should see the capture icon is displayed at the top of the screen while playing a video.

Basically, you can take a screenshot of the playback by using the palm motion or using combination of the Power button and the Home button, but using the capture button to take a screenshot while playing a video is much easier to do. Other advantage when you use the capture icon is this option will give you a full screen screenshot no matter how you hold (horizontally or vertically) the phone while playing a video.

1. Open the Video Player app.
2. By default, the videos in this app are displayed by the date and viewed in a thumbnail form. 
3. To delete a single video go to the step #4, while to delete multiple videos go to the step #5.
4. Deleting a single video:
• Long tap the required video.
• On pop up menu select Delete.
• Click OK button to confirm.
• The selected video will be deleted.
5. Deleting multiple videos:
• Click the Menu key and then select Delete.
• Mark the checkbox in the required videos to select multiple videos or tap Select all to select all of your videos.
• Click Delete button.
• Click OK button to confirm.
• The selected videos will be deleted.

In certain condition, you may want to delete a single or multiple videos that you have saved in your phone, for instance when you want to free up some space in your phone or when you want those videos no longer saved in your phone. So, by knowing these steps, now you can delete unwanted videos easily in the video player app.

• List: Select this option to view the videos in a list form. This option will allow you to view more videos in a screen than other views.
• Thumbnail: Select this option to view the videos in a thumbnail form.
• Folder: Select this option to view the videos by folders. This option is best used if you have a lot of videos. As a note, while you're using this option, the sort by option is not available.

• Click :  this option to adjust the volume.
• Click :  this option to change the screen ratio.
• Click :  this option to restart the currently playing video or skip to the previous video. Tap and hold this option to move backward quickly.
• Click:  this option to pause or resume the currently playing video.
• Click:  this option to skip to the next video. Tap and hold this option to move forward quickly.
• Click :  this option to reduce the size of the video screen.

• Limit for MMS : Select this option if you want to lower the quality of the video to allow you send the video via messaging. This mode will limit the video up to 295K.
• Slow motion : Select this option when you want to record a video of a moving object and want the device plays the video in slow motion. If you select this option you can adjust the slow motion value by tapping and then select from the following options: x1/2, x1/4, x1/8. For instance, if you choose x1/2 then the device will play the video two times slower than the actual.
• Fast motion : Select this option when you want to record a video of a moving object and want the device plays the video in fast motion. If you select this option you can adjust the fast motion value by tapping and then select from the following options: x2, x4, x8. For instance, if you choose x2 then the device will play the video two times faster than the actual.
4. Select the desired recording mode you want to use.
5. Click to start recording.

If you're only able to use the feature to take pictures whilst recording the video while you're in the normal mode and you're only able to use the feature to zoom in/out and pause/resume the video in the normal mode and limit for MMS mode. While if you're in the slow motion and fast motion mode, you're only provided the option to stop recording the video.

• Tap the Menu key and then select Settings.
• Tap the Settings tab.
• Scroll down to find Flash, tap it and then select On.
5. To start recording tap .
6. While recording a video, you can use the following options:
• Set auto focus by tapping or change the focus manually by tapping on the screen where the camera should focus.
• Click to take picture whilst recording the video.
• Click to pause/resume recording the video.
• Click to stop recording the video.
7. Click to view video in the Gallery app.

Hiding  of video from the Video player app or Showing  Video from the Video Player App in Galaxy 4

The "Show hidden items"and "Hide items"  the are new features available in the Gallery app that have been brought by Android 4.4 If you using this feature you're allowed to hide or show hidden photos or videos directly from the Gallery app. This feature only works for those that are saved in the internal storage, while if you want to hide those that are saved in the SD card you can use the old method by adding a full stop . in front of the photo or video name via My Files app or another third-party File manager app.
 
Unfortunately, both these methods, either using the hide items feature or adding a full stop only work in the Gallery app and they don't work in the Video player app because the hidden videos will still be displayed there. However, if you wish to hide a video from the Video player app, you can do so with ease by adding .nomedia extension behind the video file name via another third-party File manager app.

These steps are tested by using ES File Explorer app:

1. Download install ES File Explorer from the Play Store and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation.
2. Once the installation is completed, open the app.
3. Navigate to a folder where you save the video file you wish to hide.
4. Long tap the required video file to select it.
5. Click the Rename button at the bottom of the screen to rename the video file.
6. Add .no media behind the video name, for example: video_name.mp4 become video_name.mp4.no media
7. Click OK button to save the change.
8. The selected video won't be displayed in the Video player app as well as in the Gallery app.

Show unseen video in the Video player app?
You can show the unseen video with .no media extension by removing .no media from the video file name via ES File Explorer app.


For the record, aside from hiding videos from the Gallery app and Video player app, these steps also can be applied to hide pictures from the Gallery app and hide music from the Music player app. It's because .no media extension will mark a file as having no multimedia data so that the file shouldn't be scanned and indexed by multimedia apps(Gallery app, Music player app and Video player app).
